Birthday Woes

Hey hey! My dear readers!! My ankle is much better now, thank you. I can already walk normally now :D

Anyway, as most of you know, I'm throwing my 17th birthday party soon and I'm pretty excited! FYI, its the first birthday party I'm throwing in nearly 10years. Why didn't I celebrate my birthday in during the past 10 years?

One word; Lent.

Its the period when Jesus fasted in the dessert for 40 days before he was crucified and later resurrected from the dead. So during that time, celebrations of any sorts are forbidden and we're not supposed to eat meat every Friday.

Usually that season lands on my Birthday. So no birthday party for me :(

However, this year the season of lent falls on the 9th March which is 4 days after my birthday. That means I can 'legally' celebrate my birthday! YAY!!!

And so the invites are sent out, the guest list is set, the birthday cake has been ordered and the outfit is ready. But one of the things that bugged me most of all while I was planning the birthday party was the attendance of the guests.

Although the invite clearly stated by which date should you RSVP, most people wouldn't even bother telling me if they could come or not until I have to go up to them personally to ask if they could make it or not. Which by the way, is pretty embarrassing for me because then, I'd sound desperate or something like that.
During that time, I almost felt like shouting "RSVP my damn invite!!"

But now that everybody has confirmed their attendance, the next thing most people are bugging me about is what I want for my birthday.

Not that I'm complaining or anything. Usually, hardly anyone asked me what I want for my birthday until now that I'm having a birthday party. So its nice to receive more than 2 presents for a change.

So anyway, to make your lives easier, here's some of the things I'm interested in to help you choose my birthday gift. Yea, I know it sounds so perasan (self centered), but face it! I'm actually getting present(s). Not a present, but presents for once in my life!

I won't tell you exactly what I want, but I'll tell you what I like.

First off. I love Mini Coopers

See that? ITS MINE!!!
Another thing I like is...

That's right!
Nail art!

I also love to read...

Romance and comedies are my favorite.

I like to learn new songs on the piano. Currently, I'm interested in the Classics and the Blues or Jazz. But I like to play pop music as well. Bruno Mars is my favorite artist at the moment.

Also, you can never go wrong with accesories. Right now, I'd like to add some earrings to my collection. But everybody please don't get the same idea!

One of my recent obsessions are shoes; you can never feel too fat when you put on a pair of gorgeous shoes.

I like trying on high heels now, but in practical terms, I'd like a pair of casual sandals or ballet flats because I now only have high heels and I threw away my old sandals because it got old and torn.

I like embroidery, but lately I haven't been doing that lately because I've run out of threads and ideas. This is my lastest work. My mom and I did it together.

And finally, my favorite flowers are Roses. I fell in love with that Rose garden I visited back in Melbourne
here.

That's all I can think of so far. But honestly, I'll be happy with whatever I receive as long as its coming from the people I know and love. Remember, its the thought that counts.

So now that you guys have a rough idea of my interests, Shoo! Don't bug me on what I want for my birthday again.

I love you guys.

Country Crossing Hurts...

Remember the bet I once made with Roann about the Cross Country race? Click here for the story.

Well... I lost T.T

BUT! That's because halfway during the race, as I was running along the grassy area rather than the concrete pavements because there were too many people, I fell over a ditch and twisted my ankle.

It was kinda embarrassing to cry in front of the teachers and other students, but it wasn't the pain that I was crying about. It was more of the feeling of defeat and helplessness as I couldn't get up and finish the race.

But its kinda upsetting to see that though there were some that saw me trip and fall, they didn't even bother to tell the teacher who is just a 5 minute walk away. The only people who ever stopped to see if I was OK was two girls who was running behind me. But after a few seconds, they had to go.

So I sat on the grassy side for a bit. My pants were torn and my knees were scratched but I could hardly move my ankle. In the end, I had to drag myself to the nearest tree to pull myself up. Even then, there were some scouts in front giving out check points and all they did was just give me a friggin rubber band as I was wincing in pain trying to walk on one leg.

Hello? Do I LOOK like I care about the race anymore? I could barely walk, let alone run!

Its sad to see how apathetic our youths are today; they can't even open their mouths to tell a teacher despite their concerned faces. Either they're too shy to do so or all they care about is the race.

In the end, Roann got the 10th place in the cross country race. I think its a great achievement for her and I'm happy for Roann :D

Oh yeah! I just discovered that my leg looks like this now...

*brace yourselves as this is not for the weak hearted*

And that's just the beginning...

What Happened on Valentines Day

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY my dear readers!! I love you ya shnugly, bugly, wugly, dugly, dippidy doo doo :P

I wasn't really planning to blog about Valentines Day, but I felt that this is the most eventful Valentines day ever.

First of all, remember the time I once mentioned the guy who won't stop SMSing me here?

Well lately, we haven't been communicating for a while (to my relief) because either I always forget to reply, take a long time to reply, or just ignore his text messages.

Yesterday, after about 3 months of peace and quiet, he SMSed me again saying that he's in KL and wanted to know where I live. Of course, I found that a little creepy and I don't want some kid (well, he's a year younger than me. Not interested.) to come to my house out of the blue.

So I told him that I live in Damansara and I'm on a holiday in Penang right now. Haha!!

Today, he SMS me:
Happy Valentines Day! Too bad I'm in KL right now. Otherwise, I can come celebrate with you.

In my head, I was thinking:
Happy Valentines Day! Too bad I don't wanna celebrate Valentines Day with you. Otherwise, I would've told you that I was in KL the whole time.

I'm so heartless...

ANYWAY, in school I received my first Valentine gift; a little piece of Dodol(Google it if you don't know what it is) from Wei Kei, and a packet of Hershey's chocolate from Melissa! Yay!

Also, Vivian, Melissa, Jer Theng, Kavinaa and probably a few other girls from 5I who received a Valentines note today... I'M INNOCENT!! I DID NOT WRITE THOSE FRIGGIN NOTES!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

Yea, some of the notes were written in cursive and I'm probably the only student in the entire school who normally writes like that, but a Valentine note!? Do I look like the mushy kind to you? I'm already uncomfortable hugging people, let alone write love notes to people! And they are girls lagi. If I were to write a Valentines Day note to someone, I'd write it to a guy I like, not a girl(s).

Oh! I almost forgot... Here's my Valentine nail art design...

Candies for your Valentine?

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! Love you ^.~

Burlesque

Recently, I was invited by Nuffnang to watch the movie Burlesque 10 days before its official screening.

All I can say about this movie is... it was AWESOME!!!

Okay, the the story is basically about Ali (Christina Aguilera), a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner. Burlesque’s outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingenue, who vows to perform there one day.

Soon enough, Ali builds a friendship with a featured dancer (Julianne Hough), finds an enemy in a troubled, jealous performer (Kristen Bell), and garners the affection of Jack (Cam Gigandet), a bartender and fellow musician. With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager (Stanley Tucci) and gender-bending host (Alan Cumming), Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, though not before a charismatic entrepreneur (Eric Dane) arrives with an enticing proposal…

But anyway, here's a SNEAK PEAK of Christina's performance as the star in Burlesque.

One of the things that caught my eye during the movie was the costumes and makeup. Really pretty and eye-catching so its not only 'bout the singing, but its presentation as well.

I loved the part where at some point of the movie, Jack, Ali's love interest, eventually comes in butt naked with only a box of cookies to cover his... thing.... starts helping himself to the cookies and offers her a cookie, to be polite. While the box is still... there...

Damn Hilarious! Thank goodness he's got a hot body, otherwise it'll be disturbing...

As for Cher, her character, Tess, is more of a mother to Ali. Though she hates to admit it. She's the one in charge of the dancers and their costumes and stuff. Ali was like begging, just begging Tess to let her dance on stage. And she(Ali) looked soo desperate!

Though I can't say that the movie is perfect, I still think its a pretty good movie. It simply just makes you wanna shout Encore!

The official screening of Burlesque is on 17 February 2011. Don't miss it!

Happy Chinese New Year

GONG XI FA CAI! 新年快乐~!

Yes, its that time of the year again; money, money, money $$$!!

Ahh... yes, CNY will always be my favorite time of the year. I probably like it better than Christmas maybe because you get the same thing; family comes over, makan-makan, and you receive things from them. Only instead of presents, you get cold, hard, cash.

Not that I hate Christmas or anything, no! I LOVE Christmas with the music, family and good food. Not to mention the presents. But the thing is, I'd prefer cash rather than presents because its the most practical gift ever. You can never go wrong with money.

As for presents, its more of a gamble on what you get. Like, if you want that gorgeous pair of shoes you were eyeing out at the mall, you get a pair of sneakers instead. Get it? People wouldn't really know what you want. Whereas when it comes to cash, you get to buy what ever you want!

What's more, what are you gonna do with the presents you received that may not be useful to you? In my case, there's no point in giving me candy because I'd probably just give it to some random kid. I don't really like candy, even when I was a kid. Maybe I just didn't like its artificial taste...

But one thing I know about every season is that I'll be sure to create a new nail design for the occasion!

Tada! Isn't it fab?

Walao eh! I'm seriously gaining weight during this festive season. And you will too if you live with my mom. In my house, its IMPOSSIBLE to go hungry. Mom wouldn't hear of it!

On CNY eve, our whole family came for the reunion dinner. There were 15 of us all together, and my mom practically cooked for 50 people! What's more, she wasn't really that well and the doctor told her to take it easy. Yet, my mom can cook up a storm!

If you come in here all skinny and half starved, she'd really feed you and by the time you leave this house, you'll be nice and chubby! Guaranteed!

Also, if you happen to come in groups with a big appetite, she'll probably cook twice the amount! Mom loves to cook for people who loves to eat, and I'm one of them. So if I ever grew up to be 45 and overweight, you know who's to blame :P

Today, I just came back from the gym after running 3 km when I was supposed to run 6 km. No motivation lah...

Once again, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!! Love you ^.~
